Don't Burn Your Bridges

Don't Burn Your Bridges

(Before they burn you)

Be late, tell them my alarm didn’t go off

Don’t burn your bridges

I want to call off

Don’t burn your bridges

I want to walk out that door

Don’t burn your bridges I’m told.

I’m grim. I feel my jaw lock.

Don’t burn your bridges

Before they burn you.

Don’t walk.

Don’t be sick.

Don’t run too late.

Don’t burn your bridges.

But please don’t burn me.

I’m being burned anyway.

Oh, eat the doughnut.

It’s a sign of caring from another at work.

He doesn’t care what your title is. He cares for people.

That’s why we are here.

I stayed, it bit me, kept me. Showed acceptance for disrespect.

Do I care? I care for the kids. I’m the safe place for them.

Embrace where you are and who you are.

Don’t burn your bridges before they burn you.

And eat the doughnut!
